According to Vogue, deadstock fabric and unsold inventory are weighing down the fashion industry, which is responsible for 10% of the world’s carbon emissions. Understanding the environmental impact of fast fashion is the first step to create true change. Sustainable fashion is no longer a fad – it’s a lifestyle. Social enterprises like Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia make the hard work look easy. Donating your unwanted items keeps them out of landfills and thrift shopping reduces your retail impact while keeping your wardrobe fresh and exciting.
Recently we’ve been able to share our mission impact with a larger audience through a partnership with Support Philly Fashion. In celebration of Philly Fashion Week, this volunteer-based initiative created a striking window-display highlighting designers and brands that design sustainably. The window display is up until April 30th located at 321 South Street in Philadelphia. Goodwill supports the amazing work of these talented Philadelphia designers!
