High school isn’t for everyone. Some students struggle with fitting in and are far more mature than a typical high school student. This was the case for 17-year-old Jaida. While Jaida is very bright and articulate, she didn’t flourish in the high school setting so she decided to finish her journey on a different path. She enrolled in Goodwill’s Helms Academy, a tuition-free adult education program funded by the sale of your generously donated items. According to her instructor, Jaida was wise beyond her years and a star student who put every ounce of her being into learning. She aced her GED exams on the first try! “Goodwill’s Helms Academy provided me with the environment that I needed to thrive academically and I feel 100% ready to transition to college now,” said Jaida. Most recently, Jaida shared her success story at a Goodwill fundraising event honoring Rowan University President Dr. Ali Houshmand. She will be attending Rowan this fall through a bridge program offered by Goodwill in partnership with the university!
