Now that Halloween is creepin’ up, it’s time to put together your costume for the spooky season. Some prefer pre-packaged costumes, but if you’re a sucker for thrifting and DIY costumes, Goodwill is your one-stop shop for all your Halloween needs.
If you’re puzzled on what to be, pop culture trends are one of the top choices of those planning to dress up. 2022 is bringing in new movie and tv show character favorites, which means you’ll be seeing a lot of competition on “who wore it the best.”
We came up with a list of 5 trending on-screen solo and group character costume ideas that you can find at any Goodwill store:
1. Hocus Pocus 2 – Sanderson Sisters
What better way to celebrate the cult classic comedy film, “Hocus Pocus,” than to bring back the Sanderson Sisters: Winifred, Mary and Sarah for Hocus Pocus 2. Stir the pot at Goodwill by thrifting for unique vintage dresses to match one of the witch trios!
2. Wednesday – Wednesday & Addams Family
With “Wednesday” soon to premiere on Netflix, you can channel your inner goth as Wednesday Addams. All you need to find is a black dress and a white collared shirt to achieve this monochromatic look. If you’re going out as a group, why not startle your neighbors by dressing up as the entire Addams family?
3. Barbie – Barbie and Ken
“Barbie” doesn’t hit the theaters until summer of 2023, but we’ve got enough photo leaks of Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ken, the ultimate couple’s costume of the year! Get a head start and mix n’ match retro-style clothes to go for the neon 80’s-inspired rollerblading outfit.
4. Stranger Things – Eddie Munson & Maxine “Max” Mayfield
Join the Hellfire Club like Eddie Munson from “Stranger Things.” Just grab a jean jacket and white shirt at your local Goodwill to be part of the squad! If you’re not interested in the Hellfire Club, you can always turn things upside down by dressing up as Maxine Mayfield. Thrift shop for an 80’s style blue jacket, over-ear headphones and jam out to Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” all day long.
5. Elvis – Elvis & Priscilla Presley
Make everyone swoon as the king of rock n’ roll, Elvis Presley. The simple Elvis look are either all white or all black outfit, slicked back hair and a belt. If you want to shake things up, be the iconic power couple costume by rocking Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s fashion look in the 2022 movie, “Elvis.” Be the king of the night with Elvis’ spectacular pink suit or go for Priscilla’s beautiful retro-vibes.
